Chevy Silverado 1500

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is available in a whopping nine trim levels, starting with the WT Work Truck and moving to the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and the range-topping High Country. It's also available with a range of bed and cab configuration options including the regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab, with the latter two featuring four doors. Bed sizes include a short 5-foot, 8-inch bed, a 6.5-foot standard bed, and an extended 8-foot bed.

The new Silverado 1500 boasts a lineup of four different engines. The base engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four generating 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Next up is a 5.3-liter V-8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet matched with a 10-speed automatic. Third is a 6.2-liter V-8 generating 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet, also with a 10-speed automatic. Finally, a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder that kicks out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet is paired with a 10-speed automatic.

The new Silverado 1500 is designed from top to bottom to get the job done. It provides a maximum towing and trailering capacity of 13,300 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 2,260 pounds when properly equipped with the Max Trailering Package. Acceleration and braking with any powertrain is authoritative and confident. Shifting is smooth, and body roll is low. It's capable of tearing up the trails with the best of them, and the suspension does a good job of mitigating road bumps.

The new Silverado, when properly configured, boasts a best-in-class standard cargo volume of 89.1 cubic feet of space. The cabin has been upgraded with ultramodern, high-quality materials and sporty touches, especially on the ZR2 and High Country trim levels. The controls are easy to reach and manipulate, and the touchscreen is massive, combining physical buttons and a fast-response touchscreen. Passenger space depends on the cab configuration you choose, but the extended and crew cabs offer tons of room for those in the back seat.

Safety features are provided, for the most part, with a combination of add-on packages. The Chevy Safety Assist Package offers front crash mitigation and warning with emergency braking, lane-departure and lane-keeping functionality, and automatic high beams. With the Safety Package, you get a surround-view top-down camera, wiring for a trailer view camera, blind-spot monitoring for trailering, cross-traffic alerts and automatic braking, and perimeter lighting. With the Technology Package, you get adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, and a head-up display. The LTZ trim gives you several of these features standard.
